PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL — The PGA Tour announced Wednesday the development of an official golf-themed entertainment complex, confirming that the park’s marquee attraction will be an immersive ride experience based on the February 2021 single-vehicle accident involving 15-time major champion Tiger Woods.
The announcement, which came during a press conference that began with a seventeen-minute highlight reel of Tiger Woods winning things, was described by PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan as “a celebration of the complete Tiger Woods story. The highs, the lows, and the embankment.”
“We want fans to experience the full Tiger Woods journey,” said Monahan, gesturing toward an architectural rendering that appeared to show a luxury SUV suspended at a forty-five degree angle above a gift shop. “From his first major at Augusta to his dominance at St. Andrews to and this is where the ride really picks up — the Rancho Palos Verdes incident. We think guests will find it immersive.”
The attraction, officially titled “The Tiger: A Vehicular Experience,” has been carefully designed to replicate the full emotional arc of Woods’s career. The ride’s first segment takes guests through a sweeping recreation of his greatest victories; the 1997 Masters, the 2000 U.S. Open, the 2019 Masters comeback, set to triumphant orchestral music, with guests bathed in golden light as the vehicle glides smoothly along an elevated track above a meticulously landscaped replica of Augusta National.
“We want riders to feel on top of the world,” said park creative director Sandra Okafor. “We want them to feel invincible. Unstoppable. Like nothing could possibly go wrong.”
It is at this precise moment, park officials confirmed, that everything goes wrong.
The vehicle banks sharply, the music cuts out, and guests are plunged into a recreation of a dark California highway at 7:12 in the morning before the track drops forty-five degrees and the GV80 replica executes a controlled rollover across a 400-foot track, depositing riders, slightly shaken, fully enlightened into a gift shop where they can purchase commemorative sand wedges and Tiger Woods-branded compression sleeves.
In what park officials are calling “the most authentic touch” of the entire experience, guests will be handed complimentary shots of Scotch whisky upon entering the queue line. Park staff will then administer a breathalyzer test at the boarding gate. Guests who do not register a blood alcohol content of at least .08 will not be permitted to board.
“We’re not here to do things halfway,” said Monahan. “If you want the full Tiger Woods experience, you need to be fully prepared for it. That means feeling like a champion, having a couple of Scotches, and then taking a sharp left turn you didn’t see coming. That’s golf. That’s life. That’s the ride.”
Guests who fail to reach the required BAC will be directed to a secondary queue where additional complimentary Scotch will be provided until they meet the minimum requirements. Park officials stressed that this is “a safety measure, not an inconvenience.”
Riders must be 48 inches tall and at least a .08 alcohol level to board. The ride is not recommended for those with neck injuries, back injuries, or active legal settlements.
Theme park officials confirmed several additional features: a pre-ride safety video narrated by Phil Mickelson, a “recovery wing” gift shop selling Tiger-branded walking boots and prescription anti-inflammatories, and a photo opportunity at the point of maximum impact described in park materials as “the dramatic turn.”
Asked whether Woods himself had been consulted on the attraction, Monahan paused before confirming that Tiger’s team had been “made aware” of the concept and had responded with a statement that Monahan described as “strongly worded” and “currently under review by our legal department.”
Sources inside the PGA Tour confirmed the theme park is part of a broader strategy to compete with LIV Golf’s entertainment model, which has included concerts, shotgun starts, and the general vibe of a sports league designed by someone who has never watched golf but has definitely been to a nightclub.
“We’re not just a golf tour anymore,” Monahan said. “We’re an experience. We’re a destination. We’re a place where families can come together, appreciate the sport, enjoy a couple of complimentary Scotches, blow into a breathalyzer, and ride through a controlled vehicular rollover at twenty-two miles per hour.”
The park is expected to open in 2027, pending regulatory approval and the outcome of several conversations with Tiger Woods’s attorneys.
At press time the PGA Tour had not confirmed whether the ride would feature a post-crash storyline in which the vehicle miraculously returns to competition at the Masters, but sources described the concept as “under serious consideration” and “honestly kind of uplifting.”
